Our Story

A Vision for Community

Faith Community Christian Church (FCCC) is the vision that God gave to Pastor Hugh Lionel Stewart. Pastor Lionel, as he is affectionately called, has a passion for ministry that has always led him to reach the lost, uplift those who are hurt and broken, and guide them to a place of faith and restoration. His heart would lead him to establish the Faith Community Christian Church in the Thomasville Heights community.

2012

A Need is Revealed

It can be said that the community instituted the church more so than the church finding the community. After mentoring at Thomasville Heights Elementary School in 2012, Pastor Stewart realized that there was a great need in the community for spiritual, social, and economic development. Prayer meetings, bible study, and planning sessions were held throughout 2012.

January 5, 2013

FCCC is Established

With 40 family and friends, Faith Community Christian Church was established and began meeting at the Thomasville Heights Recreation Center. The first year of establishment was about FAITH.

August 2016 - December 2018

Growing in New Spaces

The church flourished and moved to the Thomasville Heights Senior Center in August 2016, where they remained until December of 2018.

2019

Provided Space in the Community

With a change of new management at the center, the church was displaced again, however, God provided spacious and free accommodations in the COMMUNITY within the walls of Thomasville Heights Elementary School (THES).

2013 - 2019

Serving Thomasville Heights

Faith Community Christian Church labored tirelessly to meet the spiritual and social needs of the residents of the Thomasville Heights Community by providing outside worship services, visitations, weddings, funerals, baby dedications, food and clothing giveaways, Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday giveaways, and cleanup efforts.

2019

Continued Partnerships

Although the Thomasville Heights community was condemned and the THES was closed, FCCC continued to partner with the school administration and Purpose Built Schools to serve the needs of the students, parents, and community of Slater Elementary School, where many of the students were transferred.

2020

Worship Goes Online

COVID-19 forced many organizations and churches to revamp to continue providing crucial services to their communities. FCCC was faced with the inability to continue in person service, which led to the church’s introduction to virtual meetings. Despite challenges adjusting to virtual services, FCCC never missed a Sunday worship or Wednesday Bible Study. The church has gained several faithful online viewers and supporters and seen positive results with online giving.

2023

Expanded Outreach

FCCC continued their partnerships with various organizations like H.O.M.E., By His Grace Ministries, Gateway, and the Atlanta Recovery Center. The church also continued to serve the homeless monthly in downtown Atlanta and began serving the women and children at My Sister’s House monthly.

2024

Return to In-Person Worship

Faith Community Christian Church resumed to in person worship services at 2455 Salem Road, Conyers, Georgia.

February 2025

A New Chapter

February 2025 began a new chapter for not only Faith Community Christian Church, however, it also closed out a 25 year career for our Senior Pastor, Hugh Lionel Stewart, with Fulton County Government. With that, Pastor Lionel will begin a new chapter as he steps into the full-time role as Senior Pastor of Faith Community Christian Church. Ministry has always been a top priority for him, he will now have additional time to focus on the mission of church - Witnessing Effectively, Loving Unconditionally, and Serving Wholeheartedly.
